Gustave DE JONGHE (1829 - Courtrai - 1893 - Antwerp)
Gustave De Jonghe was a Belgian painter and watercolourist of figures and genre scenes. He received his artistic training from his father Jean-Baptiste De Jonghe, Louis Gallait and of François-Jean Navez. In 1855, he became the direct successor in Paris of the renowned Belgian painter Alfred Stevens with its taste of rich materials and bourgeois themes. Numerous works of De Jonghe were being etched by Lasalle in Paris.
